Taiwan Women's Golf Open, slated to be held at Hsin Yi Golf Club in Kaohsiung between January 17 and 20, is hosted by Kaohsiung City Government and CTGA. The press conference held at Kaohsiung City Hall Sihwei Government Centre on Jan. 9th morning, we would like to make a special mention of inviting special guest, Kaohsiung City Deputy Mayor Mr. Tung-wei Hung and the Chairman of CTGA Mr. Johnson Wang for participation. The press will also launch Trophy Unveiling Ceremony.
In the press, Deputy Mayor Mr. Hung welcome the players and fans to visit Kaohsiung City, and would be happy to see national golf championship holding in southern Taiwan. "It’s the first time in history that a national golf championship will be held in Kaohsiung, we aim to promote the splendors of Kaohsiung, and accelerate economic growth."
Chairman of CTGA Mr. Johnson Wang make particular thanks to government and sponsors for helping the tournament resume. "We aim to hold a national golf championship, and greatly increase Taiwan’s global recognition. Moreover, we want to take concerted action to Kaohsiung City Mayor Mr. Han’s development plan."
Taiwan Women's Golf Open has returned to the tour calendar after 12 years with a total purse of US$800,000. Co-sanctioned by TLPGA and KLPGA, TWGO aims to promote Taiwan’s golf development as well as the splendors of the host city, Kaohsiung, to the world.
This is the first time in history that a national golf championship will be held in southern Taiwan. It not only shows CTGA’s ambition in balanced regional development but its endeavors in laying the cornerstone for future golfers in southern Taiwan.
Featuring a talented field of elite golfers from around the world, TWGO is ready to amaze all golf fans out there. Especially the 33 players from KLPGA, who are currently world Top 200, with a super nova—Hye Jin Choi. Turning 20 in August, Choi, currently sitting at World No. 22, has collected both KLPGA Rookie and Player of the Year awards in 2018.
Leading by LPGA Tour members Wei-Ling Hsu, Yani Tseng, Pei-Yun Chien, Min Lee, along with Yu-Ju Chen, the TLPGA Prize Money Leader, Taiwanese players marked another strong force in the field. In addition to the acclaimed pros, ten amateurs received special invites, including our own Yu-Chiang Hou and Hsin-Yu Lu, both under 20, winning TLPGA title last year, are striving for glory.
Welcome to join us at Kaohsiung Hsin Yi Golf Club to support Taiwan players and enjoy high-level international events. People can buy tickets via ibon ticketing system platform, or buy tickets at the golf course during the tournament.
Golf fans unable to come to the golf course in person can also tune in to FTV News Channel, 4g TV, APP (Formosa TV), YouTube and Chunghwa Telecom MOD for live telecast from 12:30 to 16:30, and there are reply on TV channel, FTV HD, in evening between January 17 and 20.

At the beginning of 2019, Taiwan Women’s Golf Open will return to the tour calendar, where it has been missed for 12 years. This is not only for the pursuit of rebuilding the glory of Taiwan golf, but also to support a new generation of players to challenge the impossible and show to the world the pride of Taiwan. Sponsored by Chinese Taipei Golf Association, TWGO is co-sanctioned by Korea Ladies’ Professional Golf Association and Taiwan Ladies’ Professional Golf Association. Through the international cooperation, the tournament will be more exciting and bring a different experience to all fans in Taiwan.
