Taiwan Women's Golf Open, slated to be held at Hsin Yi Golf Club in Kaohsiung between January 17 and 20, is hosted by Kaohsiung City Government and CTGA. The pre-tournament pro-am event and Welcome Party holding on Wednesday were successful, both players and guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
In Opening Ceremony, the guests tee off simultaneously at the 1st hole at 10:30 AM. We would like to make a special mention of inviting special guests, Chairman of CTGA Mr. Johnson Wang, Kaohsiung City Government Sports Development Bureau Director-general Mr. Ming Chen Chou, Chairman of TLPGA Mei-Chi Cheng, Deputy Chairman of KLPGA Kang Choon Ja, former world No.1 Yani Tseng, Korean player Ji Hyun Oh for participation.
At the pre-tournament pro-am event today under a mostly cloudy sky, Ji Hyun Oh of Korea teamed up with three amateur guests, including Chairman of CTGA Mr. Johnson Wang, to card a collective scramble score of 60 and walked away with the first prize television. Furthermore, the organizer also prepared a variety of welcome gifts for all the players and VIP guests, so that the players can feel the full sincerity from Taiwan.
The Welcome Party which was held at restaurant at clubhouse, we would like to make a special mention of inviting special guest, Legislative Yuan President Jia-chyuan Su and Kaohsiung City Deputy Mayor Mr. Tung-wei Hung. Everyone gave "2019 Taiwanese Women's Golf Open" the biggest affirmation and support, and toast wish games a complete success!
Yu-Ju Chen, a Kaohsiung local golfer, is looking forward to playing at home, she feels exciting to see the sponsors, family and friends. Facing the "KLPGA Strong Squad", Wei-Ling Hsu said that she can’t wait to compete with players of South Korean on the course. Hoping to have a good performance in Kaohsiung and called for fans to cheer for Taiwanese golfers.
Featuring a talented field of elite golfers from around the world, TWGO is ready to amaze all golf fans out there. Especially the 33 players from KLPGA, who are currently world Top 200, with a super nova—Hye Jin Choi. Turning 20 in August, Choi, currently sitting at World No. 22, has collected both KLPGA Rookie and Player of the Year awards in 2018.
Leading by LPGA Tour members Wei-Ling Hsu, Yani Tseng, Pei-Yun Chien, Min Lee, along with Yu-Ju Chen, the TLPGA Prize Money Leader, Taiwanese players marked another strong force in the field. In addition to the acclaimed pros, ten amateurs received special invites, including our own Yu-Chiang Hou and Hsin-Yu Lu, both under 20, winning TLPGA title last year, are striving for glory.
Hometown heroine Yu-Ju Chen will tee off tomorrow with So Young Lee of Korea at 09:00 A.M. Local favorite Wei-Ling Hsu will tee off tomorrow at 09:40 A.M. Former world no. 1 Yani Tseng will tee off tomorrow with Hye Jin Choi and Ji Hyun Oh at 10:20 A.M.
Welcome to join us at Kaohsiung Hsin Yi Golf Club to support Taiwan players and enjoy high-level international events. People can buy tickets via ibon ticketing system platform, or buy tickets at the golf course during the tournament.
To make things easier for fans, free shuttle buses are scheduled to operate between Hsin Yi Golf Club and Taiwan High Speed Rail Zuoying station (Rainbow Market) from Thursday to Sunday. If driving to the venue, please take advantage of the open parking on both sides of Hsin Yi road. Parking passes are required to enter parking lot of Hsin Yi Golf Club during tournament week. Golf fans unable to come to the golf course in person can also tune in to FTV News Channel, APP (Formosa TV) and Chunghwa Telecom MOD for live telecast from 12:30 to 16:30, and there are reply on TV channel, FTV HD, in evening between January 17 and 20. In addition, MOE Sports of Sports Administration, Ministry of Education will provide YouTube live broadcast for this tournament. It is provided from FTV that the signal for this tournament live broadcast, and grateful to the authorized by Chinese Taipei Golf Association. At the beginning of 2019, Taiwan Women’s Golf Open will return to the tour calendar, where it has been missed for 13 years. This is not only for the pursuit of rebuilding the glory of Taiwan golf, but also to support a new generation of players to challenge the impossible and show to the world the pride of Taiwan.
